Language students

     In the spring semester of 2009, new language students are accommodated in following places. You can call telephone numbers listed below to reserve rooms and check in at the reception with OEC admission notice. We can still accommodate you properly according to the real condition if you don't book rooms before you come.
  • Wang Hai Hotel(望海宾馆, click for more)
    1. Surroundings: It is a three-star villa hotel eligible to house foreigners located next to the student apartments of Xiamen University in Zengcuo'an Area. In this hotel, you can have a nice view of the beautiful environment and enjoy clean air due to its top forest coverage rate among hotels in Xiamen.
    2. Facilities: separate bathrooms, water heater, TV, air conditioner, telephone
    3. Price: listed in the link above. If students stay for more than 4 months, it is 39RMB/day/person for student double rooms .
    4. Ways to OEC:
      a free bus every weekday morning from the hotel to OEC class building;
      bus No. 531 or 87 taking you 10 minutes to arrive at XMU Baicheng Gate;
      20 minutes by bike to OEC class building through XMU Furong Tunnel.


  • Luxur Hotel (绿晶酒店, click for more) and Luxur apartment building(绿晶公寓) are located opposite XMU West Gate. Both buildings have modern facilities such as air condition, television, separate bathroom, telephone, etc.. It will take you only 10 minutes to walk from Luxur to the class building, Lian Xing building.
  • Xuelinyayuan(学林雅苑, click for more) is run by a union of apartment houseowners, with nice rooms and complete facilities. It will take you 10 minutes to arrive at XMU Baicheng Gate by bus No. 531 or 87; or 20 minutes by bike to OEC class building through XMU Furong Tunnel.
  • Zaozhuang Inn (枣庄旅馆, click for more) is located in Nanhua Road near Nanputuo Temple outside the Danan Gate of Xiamen University with a quiet surrounding for study and rest and facilities like TV sets, telephones, air conditioners, private bathrooms and free internet access, etc.. It takes you about 15 minutes to walk to OEC class building.
  • Cai Qingjie Building(蔡清洁楼, click for more) is just next to OEC office building and class building with rooms equipped with modern facilities such as telephone, air-conditioner, internet access (after you apply) and cable TV. In the Autumn sememster, Cai Qingjie Building only accommodates degreed, scholarship and exchange students. But language students can stay there for short term before the normal XMU semester begins (Sep. 14). If there are still vacancy in Cai Qingjie Building at the end of September, language students can apply to the reception to move into the building. Tel: 0086-592-2180501，Fax：0086-592-2086774

  • Many overseas students would start considering renting rooms off campus after they are familiar enough with the city. It is cheaper (800-1600RMB/room/month) and is easier for you to get in touch with the local people, which is helpful for your understanding of Chinese language, culture and custom. Meanwhile, it is much safer and is conducive to overcoming your loneliness if you share rooms with classmates.

  • If you live off campus, please go through following procedures in overseas student affair office in 1st floor, Lianxing Building and remember to maintain reachable contact with your family as well as with the managing staff of the college.
    1. Fill out an application form to live off campus and provide following materials:
      1. Two copies of ownership papers of the house owner(his/her real estate license)
      2. Two copies of the lease contract
      3. Two copies of the house owners’ ID card
      4. Temporary Residence Report from the local police station, which you can get by providing the police station with passport, lease contract, house owner’s ID card copy, house ownership paper, and OEC Introduction Letter.
      OEC staff will survey the living conditions of the apartment rented by you. You can live off campus after your application is agreed upon by the OEC office director and approved by the Entry & Exit Visa Administrative Office of Xiamen Public Security Bureau.
    2. If you change your address, please inform us and then register your new address within 10 days after you move to the new place. Any violation of this might lead to a warning or a fine of 500 RMB per day. Serious violators might be ordered to leave China within a specified period.
    3. Please obey the local and national laws and regulations, respect local Chinese customs and cooperate with local police or the resident committee. You shall be responsible if you commit any rascalities or even crimes that dishonor you and Xiamen University.
    4. Basically you should not work or do any type of business in China.
    5. OEC staff might visit you periodically to make sure your convenience and safety. Please understand and respect our work.
    6. You shall be responsible for any dispute that occurs to you during your off-campus living period and bear the consequences thus resulted.


Degreed students (Undergraduate Business Chinese included), scholarship students, exchange students
     Nanguang 4, Nanguang 5 Building and Cai Qingjie Building, located in the center of the main campus near OEC class building, are dormitories specially for scholarship students, exchange students, and degreed students. With modern facilities such as air condition, television, telephone, internet access (optional), etc., the buildings provide comfortable accommodation, dining hall, coffee bar, store for overseas students.
